Valkyries

This caught my attention rightaway when i was just flipping through the book, and which also played major role in making me buy the book:

"We wind up killing what we love most..."
From Valkyries - Paulo Coelho

Paulo Coelho, hmm, a friend mine keeps telling me that I gotta read some of his books. Do let me know how it was when you finish it.

Unfortunately, it's true, isn't it? We take advantage of the things we have in abundance, not realizing they can disappear as easy as they came.

Not always. Only sometimes it may happen.

Prasoon: This is, just as you said, absolutely wonderful quote, and it has much more in it than this quote. I have also bought The Fifth Mountain by the same author with this.

Sensibly Stoned: I have not started reading this book yet. I have also bought Lance Armstrong's biography, and I am into it rightnow. I will definitely will tell you my opinion when I finish the book, while I am quite sure that it's not gonna change :) .I admire Lance even more, I am a big fan of hardworking human beings who do not sit crying and do not get defeated by life threatening blows.

Arch Storm: hehe, I can imagine you not registering this being little more materialistic than I am :) It's a compliment, not an accusation.. everyone is different.

mermaid: When I read this on one of the pages, right at that moment I decided that this is going to be one of my own library collections. We mess up, almost all the times with our own worshipping. I remember from my childhood, the thing which had been my the most desired possession, I have always lost it, however hard I have tried to conserve it, may be it my favorite wrist watch, or a bead or a mug or a friend.

bablu: life never offers fairness :) You are lucky if you don't feel so, enjoy it while you have it!

I guess this is similar to the concept of cheating..I could be cheated only by someone I trust. For when someone I do not trust cheats me, it's hardly cheating for I anticipated it.
We may jeopardise a whole lot of things and relationships in life, but we actually "kill" the ones we love most..

Yet each man kills the thing he loves
By each let this be heard,
Some do it with a bitter look,
Some with a flattering word,
The coward does it with a kiss,
The brave man with a sword!

Some kill their love when they are young,
And some when they are old;
Some strangle with the hands of Lust,
Some with the hands of Gold:
The kindest use a knife, because
The dead so soon grow cold.
