thanks for the visit and comments venus. One thing that I remember well about Independence Day in India are the small flags over the wooden sticks that kids on the street sell. I'd buy one, that would be enough, but away, i'll pay a million bucks to acquire one! I want to stick it on top of a monitor at work -- show proudly to everyone that I am Indian, not Nepali.

Here in downtown, they had some cultural event sponsored by indians in america on 15th, which made me feel being a part of independence day celebration for 10 mins! I miss going to school and watching parade, flag hoisting ceremony, and singing "jana gana mana.." and taking some kind of oath, and at the end of oath repeating "Dhanyavad" after the person making us take oath even on teachers' instructions not to!
